<intro>
Over a year after the Minnesota Vikings Williams Wall sued the NFL over its anti-doping procedures, the case will finally go to trial on Monday. Every professional sports league will be watching closely as the conclusion could possibly affect their ability to enforce their drug policies across the country.

Vikings defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams tested positive for the banned substance bumetanide, which can mask the presence of steroids, yet played every game last season while challenging their four-game suspensions for the offense.

The NFL wanted the case to be decided in a federal court; however it instead went before a local Minnesota judge who could have possibly even been a Vikings fan.

The Williamses’ suspensions have remained on hold while all of the legal challenges are decided by the courts. The two players are not accused of actually taking steroids.

Both players have admitted taking the over-the-counter weight loss supplement StarCaps, which contained the banned substance, prior to a training camp weigh-in so that they could meet their targeted weight and be entitled to $400,000 bonuses.

The Williamses contend that the NFL is their employer and therefore they have to comply with Minnesota state law requiring notice of a positive drug test within three business days.

The trial will try to settle numerous labor issues with the big decision being who employs the players. Is it the NFL, the Vikings, or both, where drug testing is concerned?

A Minnesota state judge said that if the NFL is the employer of the players, even a little bit, then the league is required to follow Minnesota state labor law.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said on Friday that the lawsuit is a “state law end-around that can undermine all anti-doping policies in sports.”

Other sports leagues, including Major League Baseball, the NBA and the NHL, filed court papers supporting the NFL’s position, saying the Williamses’ case could affect their ability to enforce their own rules against steroids and other drugs as well .

The Williamses are also attempting to seek unspecified damages for damage to their reputations and lost monetary opportunities as well as all of their attorneys’ fees in the case.
</intro>

    <intro>

Brett Favre - the man with more public comebacks than Jason Voorhees - was visited by Vikings coach Brad Childress at his home in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Childress said his trip was innocuous, just a chance to chat with his graybeard quarterback before Favre was to appear on "The Tonight Show."

Favre is mulling his nth retirement, and his coach plans to give him ample time to decide. "He brought it up to me," Childress said about the yearly decision that Favre makes with acute complexity. Favre then asked Childress when the team needed to know.

"I said, 'you know what, Brett? That's not why I came here, I came here to see how you're doing. It's been five weeks since we've played.'"

Favre threw a critical interception late in the 4th quarter of the NFC Championship game in New Orleans, his team in field goal range and on the lip of the Super Bowl. Asked how long he will think about that throw, he said, "A very long time."

Then Childress and Favre's wife, Deanna, pondered Brett's possible outfit for his appearance on Jay Leno's show. Both wife and coach lamented the inherent stubbornness of aging people in general and aging stars in particular.

"He's standing there in dirty shoes and khaki pants," Childress said. "His wife's putting this and this [in front of him]. I said, 'Deanna, you can do whatever you want, but he's going to wear what he wants.' I knew he was going to wear a t-shirt."

Of far greater interest to football fans, however, is what Favre will wear on Sundays in September.
</intro>

    <intro>
Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said from the NFL's annual scouting combine on Friday that he will give quarterback Brett Favre all the time he wants to make a decision on whether he wants to play football for the 2010 season.

Childress said that he spoke with Favre earlier in the week and that he was still recovering from the massive beating that he took in the NFC championship game against the New Orleans Saints. He is also laying down limestone at his wife’s mothers house.

In addition, Childress said that Favre has earned the right to take as much time as he wants to make a decision about the upcoming season and that the Vikings are prepared to wait for as long as it takes.

In publicly making this statement, Childress has opened the door for Favre to once again wait until the last week of training camp and the NFL preseason to make his return once again. It also means that the media circus surrounding the annual Favre circus will once again be in full force up until the day that he officially announces his decision.

If Favre decides that he does not want to return, Childress said that he is content going with either Sage Rosenfels or Tarvaris Jackson as the Vikings quarterback this season. Both players were the Vikings backup quarterbacks last season.

<intro>
#4

Every generation has that one star to look up to. Every fan has their favorite player of all time.
Michael Jordan could make a die hard Knicks fan like Spike Lee get up out of his seat even when he was keeping his beloved Knicks from going to the NBA Finals nearly every year.

Barry Sanders danced his way into homes on thanksgiving every year making a turkey out of his opponents.

Cal Ripken showed how the game was supposed to be played every single game through slumps, pain, and even the dreaded double headers.
Every generation will have it's own stories whether it be Ali, Mays, Sweetness, Rice, Montana, or Lebron.

Sometimes we get lost, thinking these players are bigger than life, but they are not. They are human just like you and me. Perhaps their wallets are much thicker, but in the end they breath the same air, feel the same pain, make the same mistakes.

Everyone has their opinion on Brett Favre right now, but do not forget how grown men cried on that fateful Monday night when he took the field after his father's death and showed that he was superhuman when he played that game, but human when he mourned in front of millions. Don't forget all the memories # 4 etched in the game of football. The Superbowl, the records he broke, and the fun he had each and every week. Do not judge him for being human, but love him for having fun.

But then again, what does Scrappy know?
</intro>

    <intro>
Minnesota Vikings left tackle Bryant McKinnie has been notified by the NFL that he must pay back the league expense money due to the fact that he did not participate in the Pro Bowl according to the regulations set forth.

The NFL league office said on Friday McKinnie will be required to pay reimbursement of $4,285 for expenses that he incurred during the week prior to the game in Miami.

McKinnie was in Miami on the NFL’s dime but decided to skip most of the team practices and not attend other NFL obligations related to the Pro Bowl. Because of these infractions, McKinnie was then dismissed from the NFC all-star team and did not play in the game.

McKinnie has blamed his absence from the practices and other obligations required by the league on a foot injury and miscommunication about his desire to withdraw from the NFC Pro Bowl team.

McKinnie has also forfeited his $22,500 game check that he would have received if he had participated in the game.

The NFL’s competition committee will be reviewing the matter further and they will determine whether additional action should be implemented in order to prevent this type of conduct at any future Pro Bowls.
</intro>

    <intro>
Because the Minnesota Vikings have decided to “…let Brett decide what he wants to do” without adding any pressure to the mix, they have essentially guaranteed that Favre will be playing one of the two games again. If he doesn’t ultimately decide to return to play football for another year with the Minnesota Vikings, he will at least maintain the annual suspense about his decision.

The Vikings have made it well known that they want the certain Hall of Fame QB back for another run at the Super Bowl in 2010, but Brett Favre hasn’t made any definitive assertions about his immediate future. If Favre strings the Vikings along for another year and ultimately decides not to return, Minnesota could be in a tough spot regarding the QB position. Their other two QB’s, Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson, are not likely to be very happy with the situation.
</intro>

    <intro>
Usually I’m excited to watch the Super Bowl, but this year I couldn’t have cared less. I felt like, we got so close, we were supposed to win it. That should have been us. We know we could have done the same thing the Saints did in the Super Bowl, but they beat us and they’re the champs.

I’ve just been chilling, hanging out with my son, my friends and family here in Alabama. I like to play basketball, video games, stuff like that. I like to cook for my family.

At this point I feel fine physically because I didn’t play all the time. Usually this time of year I need time to let my injuries heal, so this off-season won’t be as hard as last year. I’ll take a few weeks off, then start doing things a couple days a week. The closer the season gets, the harder my training gets, the more I do. I do more running than lifting weights, but I do want to get in the weight room a little more than usual because I feel like I didn’t do that enough last season. I want to keep my body strong so I can last all 16 games.

I’m not sweating whether Brett comes back or not because I’m a free agent. Depending on the collective bargaining agreement I’ll be either restricted or unrestricted, just waiting to see. Right now I still feel like a Viking, but I’m just going to have to wait a while to find out what’s going to happen.

I’m always motivated going into the season, but losing the way we did, getting as close as we did shows you that you never know if you’re going to be able to get back there. It’s so hard to get that far, you wonder whether you’ll be back there again next year or if it will take 10 years to get that far again. It makes you put things in perspective.

    <intro>
The Vikings tough guy country boy, defensive end Jared Allen, is publicly pleading with quarterback Brett Favre to return to the Vikings for another year next season.

The Vikings all-star player made an animated and melodramatic plea on the NFL Network to his gray haired and fellow red-neck cowboy; quarterback Brett Favre, to return to the team for yet another season in 2010.

"Silver fox. Everything but my backside loves you, but if you come back, I will let you slap my rear end every single day,” Allen said. “In no way gay at all, but I will take that stinging pain and I will eat it every day."

If in fact Mr. Retirement-unretirement decides to come back for another season without actually retiring and then changing his mind once training camp is almost over, they could use the movie Brokeback Mountain as a theme.

Allen sounds desperate and knows that without Favre behind center that the Vikings will not be the same team that they were this season.

    <intro>
When momentum is on your side you do not hit the breaks and crawl to the finish line.

Sitting in a basement with a group of guys watching football is a great way to spend a Sunday. The first game of the day Colts/Jets was good. Jets played better than I thought but the outcome was not a surprise.

The main attraction of course was the Vikings and the Saints. The 1st quarter lived up to the shootout hype. Slowly the game changed however, maybe it was the the flurry of puns in the 2ND quarter or the muffed punt by Bush. The game took a turn the teams seemed tight,not sharp not like champions. It began to look like the Viking D was taking over. Brees was confused and not racking up big yardage.The Vikings could move the ball but trying to hang on to it seemed impossible.

But here we were in the 4Th quarter and a team that had turned the ball over 4 times and saved 3 other opportunities to give the ball away. Was poised to win the game. Yes the final drive of regulation Favre is doing what the nay Sayers told him he was told old to do. After a Chester Taylor run to the Saints 33 yard with a 1:06 left the Vikings called timeout. It was all playing out like the happy Favre movie of the week was supposed to but then a curious thing happened.

Brad Childress took his foot of the gas.

A run on 1st down for no yards. 2ND down let Favre pass hell no another run for no yards. Timeout Vikings :19 left on the clock. Then the bonehead of the year goes to the 12Th man in the huddle following the timeout. 5 yard penalty. Minnesota we have a problem. Our 50 yard field goal is now a 55 yard field goal.

Which means Brad Childress now wants he team to jump back to life. Without the penalty Childress probably runs the ball again plays it safe and puts the game on Longwells leg. But facing 3 and 15 and a 55 yard field goal it's time to let Favre throw and the whole world knows it.

Now some may argue there were open receivers on this play but I didn't see any. Others say the 40 year old man who had been hit 15 times and limping should have run for as many yards as he could. You and I knew what was going to before he did what he did. A pass across his body intercepted.

I ask you what were his options throw the ball away and try to convert a 4Th and 15? Run like hell and maybe get 5 yards. By the way that's a big maybe. I know on the replay it looks like there is alot of room to run. But were talking about a man that was never described as fleet of foot a on his best day. Not to mention in the condition he was at the end of this game. 5 yards would have been a miracle and probably ended in a fumble. I think everyone in purple will be second guessing that play for along time starting most of all with the head coach who took his foot of the gas.
</intro>

    <intro>
The two number 1 seeds will face off in the Superbowl.

This is the first time since the Cowboys played the Bills that two number one seeds will meet in the big game. Hopefully, it will be a better game than that.

MCHomer (4-6, 1-1) Vikings Colts

Bamababe2K9 (4-2, 2-0) Saints Colts

Flash Greyhound (4-6, 1-1) Vikes Colts

Nolan Thomas (2-8, 1-1) Vikings Colts

RandolphC (8-2,2-0) Colts and Saints

Chriso (6-4, 2-0) Colts, Saints

It was a clean sweep for the Colts, and an even split between the Vikings and Saints. And since the game came down to overtime, it was clear it could have gone either way. Congrats to RandolphC who has had the most success in the postseason, with an .800 winning percentage. Considering the playerpress average is below .500, Randolph C clearly rises above the crowd.

    <intro>
Now that the Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings have been officially eliminated from the NFL playoffs, we all have the joy and exuberating experience of waiting to see how the retire, un-retire scenario will once dominate the sports news airwaves for another 7-9 months.

Yes, the stage has been set once again and the soap operas will once again be tuned into what decision Mr. Favre will make concerning his playing career in the NFL.

An announcement that he is officially retiring from the NFL is expected, but then have we not all heard this before over and over again?

I can see it all now, “As the Favre Turns” will begin once again with speculation of his news conference, to his announcing that he is officially retired for the umpteenth time and ESPN drooling over the aspect that they have another off season to bring up his name on a nightly basis once again.

Oh sure, I have no doubt that he will in fact retire once again, but with all that we know about Mr. Favre, can anybody really take him seriously this time? Talk about “crying wolf”, nothing this man says when it comes to retiring can or should be taken seriously in any way or form.

Consider the facts:

1. Favre still has one year left on the two year contract that he signed with the Vikings.

2. He will have all off season to relax, heal up from all of his bumps and bruises and feeling good just in time for next season to start.

3. Unless he officially files for retirement with the NFL, he will once again keep us all biting our fingernails waiting to see what he will actually do.

4. Favre loves the spotlight, loves to hear his name on ESPN every night, and is a media hound in every way, shape, and form.

5. He will probably once again hold us all captive up until the 2010 season begins and training camp is almost over until we all know for sure if he is in fact retired or coming back once again for yet another “last season”.

We are all sick and tired of Favre’s antics when it comes to retiring, but that will not change a thing. Even if he in fact truly is retiring and he knows it, he will keep us all hanging because that is what he likes to do and he loves the fact that he is still in the news.

So here is my guess as to what will actually happen this season on “As The Favre Turns”.

He will announce his retirement within the next couple of weeks if not sooner. He will then be in an extensive amount of personal interviews which will be shown on ESPN at least once a week.

He will continue to tell us that this is really it and that he has officially retired, yet he will not file the official NFL papers and turn them in to the league office as is required.

Once training camp starts, there will once again be news that he has been seen working out with a high school team down in Mississippi and that once again, he is in great playing shape and looks good.

He will still claim that he is only doing it in order to stay in shape and have the opportunity to help out the kids and still get to throw the ball around some.

With one week left in training camp and one preseason game left, he will all of a sudden come out and say that he feels great and that he still has the itch to play football in the NFL and he will be secretly flown to Minnesota and to their training camp.

Someone will spot him at the airport and then for a week there will be nothing but Favre, Favre, Favre on ESPN 24/7, just the way he likes it.

He will once again decide at the last minute to un-retire and play one more season stating that he feels great and that the Vikings seem to have a great shot at the Super Bowl…..again.

At this point, there are only a few scenarios which I can see happening:

1. Favre has yet another wonderful and unbelievable season as he did this season and leads the Vikings into the playoffs and the Championship game where he once again chokes when the game is on the line and throws an interception as he has done in his past two championship games.

2. Favre has a dismal season, and his consecutive game streak is finally broken when Childress has had enough and benches him once and for all.

3. Favre’s 41 year old body has finally had enough and he cannot take the beatings any more and he is injured seriously enough to take him out of a game and end his career for good.

So, are we ready for another off-season of the Favre Networks number one shows,"The Favre and the Restless," "General Farve," "One Favre to Live," "Favre of Our Lives," and “As the Farve Turns”?

Tune in tomorrow! Same Favre-Time, Same Favre-Channel
</intro>

    <intro>
The Saints won 31-28, eliminating the Vikings.

Then my phone rang. It was a good friend, you might even say my Best Friend. To abbreviate, I'll just use BF.

BF: "Well that loss was hard to take."

Me: "You had a great season, some say the best in your career."

BF: "But there was that interception at the end of regulation."

Me: "It would not have been a passing situation if there weren't 12 men in the huddle."

BF: "I am not going to point any fingers, it's a team game."

Me: "At least you are saying the right things."

BF: "And now I am saying that it might be time to retire."

Me: "You can't retire."

BF: "Why not?"

Me: "Because you already retired after the Giants eliminated your Packers two years ago. I have been meaning to talk to you about that as a fan of the Patriots. I can't help but think that things could have been better if the Packers eliminated the Giants."

BF: "Sure, I was disappointed too. But look at what I did. I made a comeback with the Giants crosstown rival, the Jets."

Me: "But what happened?"

BF: "Obviously, New York was not the right place for me. So I retired."

Me: "You mean re-retired."

BF: "Sure, decided that was it and went back to Mississippi."

Me: "But it did not last."

BF: "No, I just had to get out of Mississippi."

Me: "Tiger Woods feels the same way."

BF: "So I went to Minnesota, had a great season, and now it is over."

Me: "Ok, but before you re-re-retire, let me tell you these retirement stories"

Peter as a hockey player

We moved to a hockey town when Peter was five, and he immediately wanted to try hockey with his new friends. The problem? Neither his mom or I skated, so we never taught him how to skate. It just wasn't a priority. So now Peter was playing with kids who learned to skate when they learned to walk. We did all we could. I took him to learn to skate sessions. One time, I realized I forgot my gloves. Pete said "That's OK Dad, you only hang on to the boards anyway." He actually lasted for a year and a half. Then he realized it just was not going to work out. At 6, he came home and announced it, "I'm retired."

My basketball career

It was never great. But in my 20's I was still playing in a men's league and would get in some pick-up games. But I always knew my knees were not great. And at that point I was still playing softball, and even some baseball at catcher, and decided that I would retire from baseball. And that worked until my 30's. I was coaching baseball at a school north of Boston, and the AD asked me to consider an opening they had for a basketball coach. I actually ended up staying there for four seasons. And even though it may have just been a faculty vs. student game, or running at practice, but I was playing more basketball again. And this time, it was my back. And so I re-retired. And that worked for another four years. But then I was attending a church that wanted to use sports as a ministry to interact with other churches. I was in charge of the softball team, but also joined the basketball team. There were nights that there were older guys, or guys my age. Too often, I was the oldest guy on the court, it was clear it was time to re-re-retire.

One final example, take Willie Mays. You want to remember him as the guy making the over the shoulder catch for the Giants. Not the guy falling down in the outfield for the Mets. And in case it is not already apparent, I did not have a conversation with Brett Favre. I just was hoping to predict his next retirement. But now that seems too easy, of course he is going to retire. The better question is, where will he make his comeback? My guess is Baltimore. They have a playoff team, but could use an upgrade at QB. Favre likes the color purple. Maybe Favre will be a Raven? I'll let you know if he tells me in his next call....
</intro>

    <intro>
It’s exciting to be in the playoffs, but I feel like it’s important to treat playoff games just like a regular-season game. At the same time I know how important every single thing is during the playoffs, so you want to make sure you’re on point with everything. You can’t afford to slip up because if you lose now, you go home.

On my first touchdown against the Cowboys, I think the DB never knew I had the ball until I was in the end zone. When it hit my hands he was turning his head to look back and see where the ball was. That’s something I always try to do, keep my hands in until the last possible second so the DB doesn’t sense that the ball is coming. They know that when you put your hands out, the ball is coming, so if I can I wait until the last second to grab it.

On the second touchdown my job on that play was to come in motion and cut the defensive end. Then, if I have a chance, get up and be an outlet in case Brett needs me. That’s exactly how it happened. After I cut DeMarcus Ware, I was able to get up and ease back into an area where nobody was and Brett did a great job of scrambling. After I caught the ball I actually thought I was about to be hit pretty hard, but afterward I realized there was nobody around me.

My third touchdown I came off the ball and at about five yards the DB got his hands on me. I was just blasting away down the sideline trying to get around him. I was able to get his hands off me and get a step or two on him and by then Brett had the ball in the air and it fell right into my hands.

I definitely have a chemistry with Brett but so do all the other receivers on the team, Shiancoe, Percy, Bernard. The ball is still spread around and that’s what I love about this offense. Plus the defense is always going to have to key on Adrian, because if you don’t bad things are going to happen to you. I feel like it’s just a matter of time before he breaks out and has an Adrian game. He’s not pushing it, he knows what we’re doing right now and has no problem with it. If it weren’t for him the passing game would not be doing as well as it is right now.

The Saints are going to be a real challenge for us. It’s a great defense we’re going to be facing. Guys move around out there and are very active and they have Darren Sharper back there. We have to be alert and on point at all times, executing our plays. This will definitely be a tough one for us.

It’s real exciting to be in the playoffs. This is the time of year you have to take care of business. Point blank, period. Nobody wants to go home on this team, not right now. We set a goal early in the season and we’re still trying to reach that goal.

Sidney Rice is a wide receiver with the Minnesota Vikings. <intro>
First of all let me say this, I am a Dallas Cowboys fan, but my dislike or in this case hate of Brett Favre goes beyond the game yesterday(and FYI the Cowboys have beaten him enough that I have no reason to be that upset with him), it goes back several years including his college days at Southern Miss when he and his Golden Eagles defeated my beloved Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa.

From that point on, I truly hated this man. Now, don’t me wrong it’s not a personal thing. Brett seems to be for the most part, a decent guy. But professionally, I can’t stand the man. Ugh! Anyway, here are my reasons for I hate (for lack a better word) Brett Favre.

I know you Favre fans will dispute all of this, but in my opinion he still sucks.

The way he treated the Green Bay Packers-All that drama he brought to this team with his retiring bull crap just made me sick. This week, I am retiring, well no I’m not, I’m going come out of retirement and play for the Jets. Then he pulls the same act the following year. Calls a press conference to retire, AGAIN and instead goes to the hated Minnesota Vikings. Way to show some class Brett.

His Diva Attitude-The man acts like he OWNS the NFL. The fact that he got into it with his head coach a few weeks ago, should tell you all you need to know about his personality. He thinks he is bigger then the team and maybe he is, but you still show some respect towards your head coach. Don’t get me wrong, I have no sympathy for the Vikings, you got what you paid for and to this point, it has paid off; for now. Someone cue up the Diva song by Beyonce’ for this guy.

The Way He Treated Aaron Rodgers- I heard when the rookie came into the NFL, Favre didn’t want to have anything to do with him. The kid didn’t asked to be picked by the Packers, they were preparing for the future. Apparently Mr. Favre didn’t like what the Packers had done, so he decided to basically ignore the kid.

Through all of this, Rodgers didn’t say a word, even when he was caught up in this whole retirement mess, he just kept working and it has finally paid off for him. Rodgers’ class during all this shows what a classy guy he is and should have shown some of you Favre fans what a-hole he was, but I digress. Let’s move on shall we.

The media’s Love affair with him-This makes me want to gag the most. The love affair with this man is sickening. The media acts as if he invented the damn game. You know how many Super Bowl’s this man has won? ONE, the exact same number that Peyton Manning has won. Manning gets a lot of well deserve praise too, but least he has EARNED it.

Manning is on his way to breaking several NFL records along with the other records he has already broken. But Favre gets praise for screwing up and then correcting his mistakes. Busted plays, which normally are the quarterback’s fault, he turns into great plays and the media eats it UP. Oh did you see that play? Wow this man is greatest thing since slice bread. I have to test my gag reflexes. This man didn’t invent the game of football, but according to some experts, he did.

These same people failed to mention, that this man has basically bombed in the playoffs. He got the Jets’ fans hopes up last year when he came to the team, but they finished 8-8. On top of that, his teammates with the Jets said he displayed again a diva attitude with them. Oh but that’s not reported much because he is Brett Favre. The greatest quarterback in NFL history though he choked against the New York Giants a few years ago in the NFC Championship game and played mediocre for the Jets late last season. Doesn’t he have the highest interception rate too in the playoffs too?

Yes, I know I can hear the Favre fans especially Vikings fans coming out defending him, but really before he was a Viking, you know good and damn well most of you hated his guts too and know what I am saying is the truth. So cheers, to the most overrated player in NFL history; may the New Orleans Saints score 50 on the Vikings and make him retire for good.
</intro>

    <intro>
In the eyes of many, being a single mother is one of the hardest jobs there is. It is without a doubt a 24/7, 365 gig and a lifelong commitment.

It takes a different type of woman to raise a child on her own, especially a young man. As a product of a single parent home I will always have a love and respect for my mother that is unrivaled by any. As a man I will never know what it means to be a single mom, so for this entry I thought about what my mom did to make sure I was raised right.

The first thing that comes to mind was her selflessness. She made every sacrifice she had to in order to make sure I did not have to be without. In many ways your son has to become your everything. You have to understand that the decisions and choices you make are always going to affect him in some way, shape or form. I am not insinuating that you cannot have a life of your own, but simply have his best interests at heart when choosing to do whatever it may be that you do.

Give your son as many opportunities and outlets as possible. I think back to my younger days and how much trouble I used to get into. My mom had to work all day and was tired when she came home, so I had plenty of chances to do mischief. In an effort to fill free time she got me involved in sports and drums, among other things. In retrospect my activities then helped me get to where I am today.

At the age of 6 I started playing basketball and football at 7. I took an immediate love to sports and my mom knew it. She used my love for playing to keep me on the right track. If I got in trouble in school I was off the team. If I got bad grades I was off the team. I didn’t do my chores I was off the team. As I am sure you can figure out, I learned fast and quickly got on board with her system. Your son might not be into sports like I was, but I guarantee if you give him enough options something will capture his attention.

I was also fortunate enough to have an older brother there to be a positive male role model for me. In his own weird way he taught me the ins and outs that sometimes only a man can teach. I am not sure what, if any, males you have in your life, but this could be very helpful. Maybe your father, brother, or uncle could be of assistance in fulfilling this role.

I will not sit here and pretend to know all the answers to raising a young boy because I don’t. When I think about where I am today these are just some of the things that I believe made me who I am. Most of which I owe to my mother.

Erin Henderson is a linebacker with the Minnesota Vikings. His blogs run at www.playerpress.com. Email him at 50erinhenderson@gmail.com and follow him on Twitter at www.twitter.com/50erinhenderson.

</intro>

    <intro>
Let me first start by saying how much I appreciate your service to this country. I have always had an admiration for soldiers and what you all do to keep us comfortable and safe.

All too often people call the football field the battlefield, and say that we are going to battle or war on Sundays. However what we do is just a game, and there is a whole different type of live bullets flying around.

As an athlete I may receive a lot of attention and benefits, but make no mistake about it, I know who the real heroes are. My freshman year of college my best friend of 12 years had just started his first tour in Iraq. I thought my life was so terrible and hard until he told me some of the things he had seen in his brief stint on the front lines. I quickly realized that practicing in 100 degree weather was nothing and I should in fact be grateful that that’s what I was doing. Those images he painted in my head were without a doubt what got me through my first college camp.

When he returned, as I’m sure you can understand, he was not himself at all. He made some bad decisions and did some things completely out of character. Everyone turned their backs on him and felt like he was a lost cause. Had I chosen to do the same, then who knows what may have happened? But I remembered how he was there for me when I needed him and I knew what I had to do.

With time and help I began to see more and more of my friend coming back. From what I read I would say you are definitely on the right track, my friend. You have found an outlet through your website and are in turn doing good for others who may be in similar situations. If you ever doubt yourself or what you are capable of doing, just take a look at your past and what you have already made it through. Take on tasks with the same focus and determination that you had as an active soldier. When you look at it in this light, I am sure you will see that you have already gotten through the toughest parts of your life, and challenges now should be fun and enjoyable.

    <intro>
At the tender of age of 23 I have had the chance to see and experience things that many never will in their entire life. I have been exposed to plenty good and my fair share of bad but none the less exposed.

From the beginning it would not have been hard for me to take the easy road out. I had to deal with the adversities that go along with being raised in a single parent household. As with most single mothers there were some financial issues, but my mom always made it work. I got into more than enough trouble in school. Even late into my high school days, but was still able to smarten up in time to get where I wanted to go.

I was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to play Division 1 football at the University of Maryland. I now understand the hard work and dedication it takes to be successful on and off the field. While at Maryland I had to overcome several obstacles, including tearing my ACL in my second year.

Looking back I now realize that I had to deal with a lot of my problems on my own. It wasn’t because people were not there for me, but more so because I felt like they couldn’t relate.

With this blog I hope to help individuals that may feel the same way I felt. I want to motivate people through their tough times, because now I see how much easier it would’ve been if I had somebody to just talk to. So I hope you find time to send me your questions and concerns. I can be reached on my Facebook fan page under Erin Henderson, or on Twitter @50erinhenderson, or by email: 50erinhenderson@gmail.com.

The analysts have analyzed all the matchups but they seem to be forgetting about the best overall player in the NFL #28.

Adrian Peterson has feasted on 3-4 defenses all year long with his three best games being delivered against such defenses. Although the Vikings will have to play will in all aspects of the game, dont sleep on AP
</intro>
